Collect, organize, publish
Aside is built around a simple loop: collect, organize, publish.
It is not a productivity slogan. It is a way to keep each decision at the right moment. Capture should be fast. Organization should be flexible. Publishing should be intentional.
Collect
Collecting starts wherever the source appears. On mobile, that can be the system share sheet. On the Web, it can be the Web app or the Web Clipper bookmarklet. The saved item can be a link, text, photo, file, or note.
The point is to keep the first step small. You should not need to design a folder system before saving a useful source. Save it while it is still in front of you.
Organize
Organization happens after capture. You can review items, add tags, create collections, and group related material around a task.
This is where the saved thing becomes useful again. A single item may be enough on its own. A collection can hold a broader context: the pages for a project, the screenshots for a decision, the links for a trip, or the notes behind a piece of work.
Organization is also reversible. A private shelf can stay messy while you think. A collection can change shape as the work becomes clearer.
Publish
Publishing is the step that should not happen by accident.
Some saved material is only for you. Some material is useful to send to one person. Aside keeps that distinction visible: collect first, organize privately, then choose what is ready to share.
Publishing a collection as a public page is a later product direction. It is not a current step you can complete today. The useful work now is keeping the same saved context readable to yourself.
Why the loop matters
Many tools make one part of the loop strong and leave the rest to habit. A bookmarking tool may collect well. A writing tool may publish well. A notes app may help you think, but not always help you share a structured collection.
Aside connects the steps without forcing them to happen at the same time.
Collect quickly. Organize with context. Publish deliberately.
